LIVE
OVERSEAS (CD, Urchin Records 2000)
2000 was the year for our first tour in Australia,
and one of Felpeyu's most beautiful experiences as a band. We became
captivated by the country and its people, and experienced intense moments
on stage between the band and the audience. It must have been after
one of those concerts when we first realised that it would be great
to capture such moments in a recording. Then, months after, a new tour
came up, and we decided this time we wanted to have something cool to
offer to the audience, something containing exactly what people could
expect to experience in a concert with FELPEYU.
The repertoire on this recording closely reflects what we performed
on our last tour: sets and songs from our works "FELPEYU" and "Tierra",
plus a couple of new arrangements. La Marcha d'Antón El Neñu (March
of Antón The Kid), a beautiful funeral march that Lisardo, Ígor and
Xuan decided to play at Port Fairy Folk Festival to show what Asturian
traditional bagpipe marches are like; people enjoyed it so much that
we kept on playing it, and it became one of the most succesful tunes
along the tour. And D'Equí A Somió (From Here To Somió), a very funny
song from Co. Xixón about a young girl who falls in love with a boy,
and starts flattering him telling him all the things her father would
give him as a gift if he marries her; words are of course in feminine
gender and, since unfortunately there are no girls in the band, Carlos
and Ígor decided to share the vocals between them and have some fun
with it.
This recording is dedicated to all the wonderful friends we met in Australia,
who helped us over such a long tour; and, of course, to the aussie audience,
probably the warmest we have ever found. Because of all of you, we so
much look forward to be playing again Live Overseas.
